Shoreline Sting 2007 Fall League Rules

 

All games will be governed by High School Federation Rules with the following exceptions.

 

  1. All players on-hand will bat in both games and start on defense in at least one game.

 

  1. There will be free substitution on defense but batting order will remain the same.  Each team will supply the opposing team with a line-up prior to the game.

 

  1. The first number on the schedule will be the Home team in the first game (sitting in the First Base dugout) and Visitors for second game.

 

  1. There will be a 10 run mercy rule after 5 innings.  If a game ends before the time limit is up, the game will continue until 10 minutes prior to the next scheduled game, even though a winner has already been declared.

 

  1. There will be no traditional infield and outfield; however, you may hit ground balls ASA style (outside the base lines) if time permits.

 

  1. No pitcher will be allowed to pitch more than 7 innings in the double header unless she starts and there are extra innings, or an emergency occurs and the opposing coach agrees.

 

  1. The pitcher must comply with the pitching rule – hands separated until the batter is set.

 

  1. The courtesy runner for the catcher or pitcher will be last batted out.

 

  1. The international tie-breaker will be used if the game is tied after 7 innings.  However, a game may end in a tie if time limit expires.

 

  1. Game time limits are 1 hour and 30 minutes.

 

  1. Tentative game times are – 8:30, 10:15, 12:00, 1:45, 3:30 & 5:15.  If more or less than 12 teams, times may change.

 

  1. The middle school will play on Saturdays and the High School will play on Sundays. 

 

  1. All coaches are encouraged to use all players at their primary position at some point in their double header unless the player is overmatched or it is deemed unsafe by the coach.

 

  1. A pool of 9th grade pitchers and catchers will be available for the middle school coaches if a need exists.  In addition, capable middle schoolers will be available for high school coaches (as well as players from same division) if players are needed to field a team.  However, utilization of such players must be approved by League Director.

 

  1. Games cancelled because of weather will not be made up unless fields can be found.  However, if a week-end is rained out, the League Tournament will be on October 27 & 28.

 

  1. All coaches should remember that this is a competitive league with emphasis on instruction, sportsmanship, and fun.  Conduct that compromises the integrity and spirit of the game by fans, players or coaches will not be tolerated.  Any fan, coach or player ejected form the game will be ineligible for the next game.  A second ejection will result in ineligibility for remainder of the season.

 

  1. The League Director has the right to change or delete any of these rules as well as add any rules that will guarantee the success of the League.
